FAQ

1. I am interested in your services, what shall I do next?

You can ring me, email me or fill out the form on the contact page. We can then organise a convenient time for the free no obligation visit.

2. What happens at the initial consultation?

This is a free consultation which involves me visiting you in your home to discuss your requirements, fill in appropriate documents if you decide to book my services and most importantly of all it gives you and your pets a chance to meet me!

3. How do I pay and when?

You can pay by cash or cheque. Payment needs to be made prior to, or at the time of the first visit.

4. Are you insured?

Yes. I have care, custody and control cover for the animals in my care. In addition I have public liability to the sum of £1 million.

5. What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least 48 hours notice of cancellation. If you cancel less than 48 hours then you will be billed for 50% of the fee for the booked services.

6. Do I need to provide you with a spare key?

Yes. This needs to be given to me at the initial consultation if you decide to book my services. All keys will be stored in a secure location and have a code on them rather than address details.

7. How do I get my keys back?

You can either allow your keys to be kept on file in a secure location for furure services or I can return your key to you when I have carried out the booked services. If you decide to have your keys returned to you there will be a £5 pick up fee for any future services.

8. What days of the week are your services available?

I work 7 days a week and public holidays. There are additional fees for bank holidays, Christmas and the New Year.

9. Can you stay in my house overnight?

No. I do not provide overnight stays.

10. What happens if my pet becomes ill in your care?

At the initial consultation I require you to fill in a veterinary release form which will enable your pet to be taken to the vets and treated if required. I also always carry a pet first aid kit for any minor treatment.

11. Can you administer medication?

Medication can be administered at no extra charge unless extra visits are required which will result in a charge.

12. Does my pet need up to date vaccinations?

Although I strongly reccommend that your pet is fully vaccinated I do not require up to date vaccinations.

13. Who provides the pet food and litter?

You need to provide all the food and litter for your pet while you are absent.

14. What happens if my pets runs out of food and litter while I am away?

If this happens I will buy extra food and/or litter and will invoice you when you return home.

15. How long does a visit last?

A visit lasts as long as it takes to undertake all the tasks required. The average time is approximately 20-30 minutes.

16. How many dogs do you walk at one time?

Dogs are walked on their own unless from the same family.

17. Do you walk the dogs off lead?

Dogs are kept on leads unless the owner has given written consent for their dog to be off their lead and I feel that the dog trusts me enough to return when called.

18. How many members of staff do you have?

At the present time it is just me and a volunteer/helper but I will always be the prime carer.

19. Where will my dog be walked?

The service is 1 on 1 so your dog will be walked in your local area, not taken in a van and walked on mass with others.
